These last few years have been huge for Romane Simon and the talented and productive filmmaker/author hasn’t stopped to rest or enjoy his accolades for a second. He is one of the kindest and most down to earth gentleman I have had the pleasure of meeting and he is taking the opportunity to give back and not only support other independent filmmakers but actually provide them with the avenue to showcase their work!

2017 marks the inaugural year for the Lucky Strike Films Festival which will be held annually and will afford those who enter their work the ability for their projects to be premiered and noticed by multitudes of people. The amount of promotion and exposure that all entries will receive, whether they win or not, would otherwise be very difficult to achieve or duplicate. But the Lucky Strike Films Festival isn’t even close to stopping there! Sponsored by the acclaimed and prolific production company Lucky Strike Films, participants and attendees will be able to enjoy an awards show complete with a red carpet event and after party. This exciting new film festival features live screenings, a screenplay/writing contest as well as a music/songwriting contest and more. The Lucky Strike Films Festival is open to all genres and filmmakers of all backgrounds and is designed to be enjoyed by both filmmakers and film enthusiasts alike.

In just a few moments I’m going to be happy to share some exciting news that is extraordinary and unique to the Lucky Strike Films Festival and that I know this years participants and future entrants will find thrilling! However first I felt it important to touch on one of the many noteworthy aspects of the LSFF which is the fair minded and equitable entry fees for the various categories along with the discount provided to film students. But you must hurry! Multiple deadlines are set with financial incentives attached to each to encourage participants to submit their work as early as possible.

This year the “Early Bird Deadline” was set for Jan 30 and the “Regular Deadline” set for Feb 12. Depending on the category the entry fees ranged from $15-$35 if the “Early Bird Deadline” was met with a student discount of $5-$15. The “Regular Deadline” saw an extremely minimal increase to $20-$40 depending on category, again with the student discount ranging between $5-$15. So there is something certainly worth keeping in mind for next year as you try to get those entries in as early as possible so you can take advantage of the incentives put in place to benefit the independent filmmaker. Next we are approaching the “Late Deadline” set for June 10 and the absolute final deadline is the “Extended Deadline” set for July 12. Even with the miniscule increases with each deadline, the entry fees remain incredibly fair with above all the needs of the indie filmmaker kept firmly in mind.

I’ve spoken to other directors/writers/filmmakers who were pleasantly surprised when they heard of the extremely reasonable entry fees and lamented about having spent upwards of $250.00 or more to get their work accepted at a film festival. So Romane certainly understands the struggles, many being financial, of being an independent filmmaker and is doing all he can to make it reasonable and share the love so that as many as possible have the ability to participate.

And Romane’s understanding of the needs and struggles that plague most if not all indie filmmakers brings us to the news that has those  who have submitted their work to the Lucky Strike Films Festival as excited as can be! As many know production and especially distribution can be some of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of a finished product or having the ability to get that finished product out to consumers. So the festival’s generous founder Romane Simon has struck a deal with a cable network and if your piece wins “Best Film” at the LSFF (and this includes shorts)  YOU WILL ALSO RECEIVE A DISTRIBUTION DEAL through a television network or their other distribution company! Along with the distribution deal, the winner will also have their film promoted to millions of people! Not only that but the winner of “Best Screenplay” WILL ALSO RECEIVE A PRODUCTION DEAL with Lucky Strike Films! But Romane is not done just yet! The winner of “Best Music Artist/Best Singer” WILL ALSO RECEIVE A DEAL GUARANTEEING THEIR SONG WILL APPEAR IN A MOVIE FROM LUCKY STRIKE FILMS STUDIO LLC!

That certainly should be enough incentive to ensure you pour your all into the project you submit to the Lucky Strike Films Festival. The LSFF is destined to become one of, if not THE preeminent film festival in the country!
