Scarefest, which is in its 9th year, is one of the largest gatherings of all things horror and paranormal. It is held each year in Lexington, Kentucky. The convention covers almost all of the 90,000 sq. ft. space at the Lexington Convention Center. Patti Starr is the Owner/CEO of Scarefest as well as Ghost Chasers International. She is a certified ghost hunter and you may have seen her working with psychic Medium Chip Coffey on A&E’s Airline or on “My Ghost Story”. If you are looking to attend a VIP party with iconic horror celebrities, shop for all things horror, attend one of the many Q&A panels, or get an autograph/picture with your favorite celebrity then Scarefest is definetely for you!

Scarefest has some of the greatest and most iconic horror celebrities in attendance every year. This year saw a reunion of the Friday the 13th series with guests including: Ari Lehman, C.J. Graham, Steven Dash, Kane Hodder, Adrienne King, Lar Park Lincoln, Kimberly Beck, Darcy Demoss, Amy Steel, Steven Williams, Sean Cunningham, Henry Manfredini, and Tom Savini. Even the creators and developers of the new Friday the 13th game were in attendance showing off their awesome looking game. We can’t wait to get our hands on that can we Horror Movie Freaks?!? Just those horror icons alone should be enough to make you want to book a room at Scarefest 2017, but wait…..there’s more! From Rob Zombie’s 31 we saw horror icons David Ury, Meg Foster, Judy Geeson, Malcolm McDowell, and Pancho Miller. From the Halloween series we had Scout Taylor Compton, Daeg Faergh, and Tyler Mane. Felissa Rose and Jonathan Tiersten from Sleepaway Camp were there as well as Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich from Scream. From The People Under the Stairs we had Brandon Adams, Yan Birch, Kelly Jo Minter, and Sean Whalen. Children of the Corn horror icons represented were John Franklin, Courtney Gains, and Christopher Saint Booth. The Crypt Keeper himself, John Kassir, was at Scarefest along with Chad Lindberg (Supernatural, I Spit on your Grave), Traci Lords (Devil May Call, Cry-Baby, Excision), R.A. Milhailoff (Leatherface, Hatchet II), Rachel True (The Craft, Half Baked), and Kevin Grevious (Underworld, I, Frankenstein, Men in Black II).

You like wrestling? Scarefest has you covered! Brutus Beefcake and Kevin Nash were there signing autographs, taking pictures, and kicking ass. You like music? Don’t worry; you’re covered there too! Lita Ford and Gwar were ready and waiting to talk with you and for photo ops. Scarefest also houses a lot of paranormal icons as well such as Chip Coffey (Paranormal State, Psychic Kids), Paul Bradford (Ghost Hunters International), Jason Hawes, Steve Gonzalves, and Dave Tango (Ghost Hunters), and Kim Russo the happy medium. Western Kentucky Ghostbusters were there in full gear and even brought along a fully stocked Ecto-1 ambulance! Don’t worry…if any ghosts get lose at Scarefest the Ghostbusters are ready to take them down!

Scarefest hosts a ghost hunt at Carnegie Center if you want to get spooked. At the Scarefest launch party Ari Lehman’s band First Jason was the headliner. Scarefest also hosts a VIP party and costume ball. Here you will have the opportunity to cut loose with your favorite horror icons in a more relaxed setting. Sunday at Scarefest is “Kids Day” so bring out your little ones and let them enjoy all the things Scarefest has to offer. Every day is loaded with photo opportunities, panels/Q&A, film festival, tarot card readings, aura readings, crystal cleansings, and even an amazing show put on by illusionists Reed and Ashton Masterson of Impossible Magic.

Make sure to bring enough money, because literally anything your heart desires can be found at Scarefest. From crystals to corsets and custom art to candles- it can be found here. There were well over 100 vendors selling their goods for you to enjoy.

If you were unable to attend this years Scarefest then you better start saving for next year, because I’m sure next year’s Scarefest will be even better!!! Hope to see you there freaks!
